CURRICULUM
The ABT Summer Intensive curriculum will include both high level technique classes and lecture courses on subjects critical to the development of a well-rounded dancer. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux/partnering, variations, men's class, modern, character, original choreography, ABT repertoire, pilates, hip hop, dance history, acting, music theory, dance improvisation and nutrition/health.

JOB OPPORTUNITY
ABT Detroit is looking for responsible young adults that have knowledge of the world of dance that can mentor, guide and watch over the students that have been selected to attend this program. Chaperones are assigned to oversee dancers for the entire intensive. Each Chaperone is assigned 12-14 students.
Job Description:
The ABT Detroit Summer Intensive Chaperone duties and responsibilities are pivotal to the role that the Chaperone plays both as an individual and as a member of the Chaperone group that collectively ensures the utmost safety and accommodations of ABT students as well as the program objectives of the ABT Detroit Summer Intensive.
ABT Chaperone duties include:
- Preparation of all facilities used for the ABT Detroit Summer Intensive
- Restoring all facilities to their prior condition at its conclusion
- Around-the-clock supervision of ABT students including the daily schedule of classes and rehearsals, recreational excursions & weekends
- A Team-member approach to participation in the daily operations of the intensive
- Flexibility is essential because various needs arise in the course of each day; chaperone daily schedule duties may change in order to attend to such needs.
The comprehensive duties and responsibilities of each Chaperone may be augmented and/or amended based upon the arising needs of the ABT Detroit Summer Intensive as determined by the Managing Director.
ABT Chaperone compensation/privileges:
- Full room & board will be provided from June 24, 2010 until check out on July 24, 2010;
- Payment: $1200
- One daily technique class (as time & scheduled duties allow);
- Residence Coordinator, Head Chaperone, Chaperones and General Manager work collectively to schedule one day off for each individual Chaperone every 7 10 days.
Chaperones Contract Dates are Thursday, June 24, 2010 (Chaperones move into the dorm and duties begin) through Sunday, July 24, 2010 (Chaperones move out of the dorm). Complete availability is necessary during this entire period.
