Went to the opera Wednesday eve with family. It was phenominal! Loved everything about it. The chorus put it over the top!
Evocative, deep

The 2007/2008 Season was my introduction to Michigan Opera Theatre. As an ardent fan of dramatic theatre I approached the initial production with a critical eye for acting, set design, wardrobe, and stage movement. Performances of "Cyrano", "The Marriage of Figaro", and "La Sonnambula" did not disappoint and uncovered an appreciation for the text and musical score that only opera affords.
I eagerly awaited the 2008/2009 season and found the opening production of "Margaret Garner" to be a compelling examination into an oft ignored piece of American history. The music and libretto combined to evoke an emotional response in me that gave deeper meaning and understanding to this human tragedy. The ticket I hold to a second performance of "Margaret Garner" reveals my exuberance for this fine work of Toni Morrison and Richard Danielpour. I look forward to the rest of the season as Michigan Opera Theatre is truly one of the artistic treasures of Southeast Michigan.

This was and AWESOME opera.
Better than the premiere
cmally - Ypsilanti
This performance was so much better than the '05 because it was so alive. There was no drag and the scenery was outstanding. I was not privileged to see Denyce Graves but Tracie Luck was absolutely incredible in her performance. I had considered giving my ticket away because I saw the 2005 performance and felt that that was enough, but I am so glad that I went. It was an absolutely riveting show. Thank you so very much.
